Please help me. I dont want any ammonia to rise.

The cat's stomach? Check behind the stand in case he jumped out.

Get a flash light to check the overflows and sump. fish are sneaky- they are almost always in there unless they jumped ship or something ate it.

i had the same problem

did you ever find the fish?

I have a nano tank so the lid is always on. I checked almost everywhere. do you guys think he is under the sand?

So where would one look for a fish that was in the sump yesterday and gone today? Looked everywhere- it's a clownfish and it's MIA. Not stuck to a pump, not in the skimmer, hasn't taken a 8"leap into the top off container, can't find it "around" the sump either.

i think i need a camera in my tank now lol. Where could this fish be?

Dude this is a crazy event i guess more than one person has had this happen... I have lost fish in 2 aquariums w/ no water levels changing... one in a freshwater 150g lost a dojjo loach still no idea i just came to tell myself my moray eel somehow eat him up (he was about 8").. second lost some huge random fish outta the ocean in a 55g aquarium... lid closed no way out just gone... 2 big to get through anything unless overflow but then he wouldnt fit through piping... and i can see all this... and if some he slipped passed there in to the piping... well there he be LOL

Fish are amazing at fitting in places that we believe they will never make it. I once had a 5 gallon freshwater tank in my room. I saw that my red tailed shark had jumped out, but couldnt find the loach that was in the tank. I had just moved everything to a 20 gallon tank(now my sump). I shut everything down and left the tank to be for two weeks. Still looking for this loach, then i finally found it was still alive, and it had been living in the tiny little space under my in-tank filter.

The moral here, is that it could still be somewhere just hiding. Should your ammonia go up, you can do waterchanges if it worries you. Even add in some amquil. But you may cause less stress to your tank by waiting a week or so.

Patience pays great dividends in this hobby, a few wise reefers told me that when I started.
