steveoutlaw April 11, 2005 April 11, 2005 Where is the closest place to Woodbridge to get some 1" bulkhead fittings? The 2 that are on my tank right now are only 3/4" inside the tank (it almost looks like a reducer fitting on the inside) and can't keep up with even a mag9.5. I'd like to get my mag12 on there so I get start getting more turnover going through the sump and skimmer. Erik - I'm still going to take you up on yours......just have to find the time to get to it. Steve
xeon April 11, 2005 April 11, 2005 I think The Reef Tank is the closest unless there is a closer hardware and/or pet store that carries them.
ErikS April 11, 2005 April 11, 2005 Yep, as far as I'm aware The Reef Tank is the closest place (& they're out at the moment). I generally online order them (because they're a PITA to get). I'm getting ready to place an order w/ Savko - let me know if you need 1 & I'll tack it onto the order ($6). You want Slip or threaded (the one I have is slipxslip). And, there is no bulkhead with a reducer on the inside. The ones you have are 1" (IIRC), the strainer just makes them look smaller than 1". You might get a tad more flow by just using 1" pvc for the intakes - though I am suprised that they don't keep up with a Mag9.5 going through a squid - they should run @ about 600gph per side.
steveoutlaw April 11, 2005 Author April 11, 2005 Erik- Can you order me 2? That way I can use the one you're giving me for my fuge. Or if you need that one order me 3. I'd prefer the slip. Thanks, Steve
ErikS April 11, 2005 April 11, 2005 I'll add two to the order, the one I have is just sitting in a box.
steveoutlaw April 11, 2005 Author April 11, 2005 Are you sure that there is no reducer??? I know that the intake on this thing is only 3/4" but the pipe coming out the back is 1".
ErikS April 11, 2005 April 11, 2005 Sure? Heck no I just don't remember seeing a reducer. Am I sure that there's no 1" -> 3/4" bulkhead? Not 100% positive, but I've never seen one - but that certainly doesn't mean they don't exist.
steveoutlaw April 11, 2005 Author April 11, 2005 I'm going to check and make sure tonight. I have some 1" PVC fittings I'll stick over one of them just to make sure.
steveoutlaw April 12, 2005 Author April 12, 2005 Son of a @$%#& - it is a reducer fitting. They are only 3/4" openings that are draining the tank. No wonder I'm not getting much flow through this system!!!
