Hey everybody. I'm looking for a power compact fixture with a length of 31-40 inches. I need it in this range for the unusual and weird shape of my tank. I need help finding a fixture this size. All I have been able to find is ones to short and ones way to long. Please help if you can. Thank you.

Shouldn't any 36" 96 watt power compact fit that area well?

You can look for fixtures at one of many places, hellolights.com being one.  Or get a retrofit kit at www.ahsupply.com and build it into a canopy.

A 36 inch would work but the one I found was a 26 inch fixture. I dont know if an canopy would work but I'll look for some supplies to make a canopy to fit my wierdly shaped tank.

go with a single 175 or 250 watt metal halide bulb.

Cool shape tank!  How deep? Gallons?  What do you want to grow?  It LOOKS LIKE you are new to the forum, if you are new to the reef thing, consider that there are several issues to lighting other than just what will fit on top.

36 inch single and double 96 PCs are common, depends on how much light your want/need.

Grav has a really good point-

How deep is the tank, and what do you eventually plan to keep in there?

I do know a bit about lighting and reef tanks. But the ones I work with at the national zoo are a bit to big. Anyway the tank is about 25 inches deep, and 44 not 45 gallons. It's a wounderful looking tank. So far I have in the tank are 10 blue legged hermit crabs, 1 yellow tang, 1 Torpedo goby, 1 dark green montipora digitota, and 1 brown pocollipora. Thats all thats in the tank right now. But I will get more soon. Also I found nice power compact fixture that meet my correct length,,, So  guess I don't need to really look for any more lights. But you guys can give me some more ideas on what more I can put on my tank. The idea I'm looking for is a wounderful utopia for fish and coral alike. Anyway after this tank is done. Im interested in making a pedetor tank with eels and trigger fish, But that comes later. Thank you again, and im open to any extra suggestions.

Amen Brother! If you find it, send me a postcard!

On the serious side, what did you get?  Watts? Color(s)

Guest The_Haunter
It's a compact flouresant (sorry if spelled wrong, writting this at work)  50-50 blue and white. it is about 40 watts. I like it, this sucker shines like heaven. Im gonna try to make it to the frag work shop so I cant get some corals. I need that coral collor in my tank. Also I feed my corals hatched brine but im thinking of turning to something else. Somthing that I dont have to set up ever other day. Have any suggestions?
