zygote2k August 11, 2010 August 11, 2010 I believe this is a model 701. Are these skimmers difficult to dial in?
Gatortailale August 11, 2010 August 11, 2010 With recirculate pump off, set the water level about an inch below top of black union where collection cut connects to body. You also need to get proper flow rate gph for unit. Once you get steady flow, turn on recir. pump and adjust the air - start at about 2:00 and then see if it needs more or less air to raise bubble level for wet or dry skim.
Gatortailale August 11, 2010 August 11, 2010 http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1576699 image from this thread I would put it just below the red line. NOT the teal line as that is too low. That is where I run water on my 702
overklok August 14, 2010 August 14, 2010 Set the valve on the air intake to the two o'clock position. Do not turn to the wide open position.
reefhunter August 14, 2010 August 14, 2010 IMHO, deltec skimmer suck. Blah blah blah.... they are high quality... I spent the money.. I am not satisfied... Deltec skimmers are a joke. just my opinion. If you are the best, your products will perform and do so easily. they dont. The name is not worth the price. It is time people realize this. I have bought all the rest, then I bought deltec. They are not that much better. I have $1000.00 in deltec equipment that is worth $200.00 Thats my opinion. I will buy a grey seas skimmer next. Why experiment with 600-1000$$ skimmers when you can do the same thing for much less money.

Quite a few years, stopped at least once a day - like the enegizer bunny it just keeps going (producing) with almost no input from me. Even ran w/o a loss in performance for a couple weeks with a broken shaft. Gatortailale nailed it, turn the air to 2:00 & then tweak the level to the desired output. One note - sometimes you can get a surging (slurping sound) on the output (depending on feed). Just close the output valve a hair & it will stop. Also - the output should not be submerged and it should also be below where it meets the skimmer w/ no 90* bends. On the upside once set & working as you want it should remain that way for years on end (tank load depending)...............never mess with mine, works the same for long periods of time = simple clean the cup once a week, ream out the air input once a month. CHUBAKAH August 18, 2010 August 18, 2010 I'm with Eriks, My Deltec works very well and I haven't had to change the settings once set. I use the two o'clock position as well and clean it once a week. No fuss no muss.

I made the mistake of listening to others who said that there were better options out there and wound up regretting it big time. And wouldn't you know it..........I can't find one for sale anywhere.
