mosheikh February 27, 2005 February 27, 2005 I found a starfish in one of my corals. I now have it in a container. Its about the size of a quarter, hairy legs, and a red colored body. I couldnt get a great picture, but here it is. Is it reef safe?

They won't grow much beyond the size you have. They've good to have as they help keep a tank clean as they will eat whatever the fish and snails do not. Steve
craby February 28, 2005 February 28, 2005 I had a baby red brittle star fish about that size come on some live rock. It grew to about the diameter or a baseball, then died after 2 years. Very cool color, and I noticed that mine would lighten to pink & then darken to burgandy every few months.
flowerseller February 28, 2005 February 28, 2005 so Luke, Are you saying that it was that time of the months?
Lee Stearns February 28, 2005 February 28, 2005 would bet on micro stars- very common and very good additions as cleaners. They will multipy in the reef tank. The reddish color throws a kink in the positive ID- but you can see it better than the picture, and the micro stars that I have see all look like the picture next to the dime.
