BowieReefer84 April 5, 2010 April 5, 2010 Hello All! I am new to the forum and I look forward to benefiting from all the existing knowledge on this site. I would like to start a thread discussing this LED fixture, http://www.saltwatereddies.com/content-product_info/product_id-1452/24_2x75_watts_modular_led_light_system_w_controller.html It says the fixture is equivilant to a 400 watt MH . . . I am curious what others think. If it is the same output as a 400 watt MH, and produces the shimmer effect WITHOUT producing heat it seems like it is worth looking into. Hopefully someone on here has first hand experience with this light system. maybe? I am aware there are other LED fixtures, as well as DIY fixtures. Feel free to add any opinions on other fixtures as well. Thank you!! Mike
trockafella April 5, 2010 April 5, 2010 Just scroll down in the gen discussion forum and there are already multiple LED debates going on..
trockafella April 5, 2010 April 5, 2010 And yes AI units are nice, also very expensive.. And its hard to compare it to a 400w MH, its like comparing apples and oranges, but good luck..
BowieReefer84 April 5, 2010 Author April 5, 2010 I was hoping if someone had experience with one of these fixtures they could post some PAR readings, or even post some PAR readings they have seen elsewhere . . . That would help eliminate the comparison of wattage and keep it on a more level playing field.
trockafella April 5, 2010 April 5, 2010 heck out reefcentral.com they have a lot about LED's and I know there are plenty of people there who have these.. The AI's seem to be the best from what ive read, but most people cant or wont shell out the money for them now.. There are a lot of good things being said about them though..
