Has anyone regenerated Purigen before? Its says that all you have to do is add bleach to it. Doesn't sound safe for marine animals? I have 2 of the 100ml bags, but am doubtful that this actually works.

Yes, I did for my nano. I followd the instructions except i used 50/50 bleach/chlorinated water. Then I let it soak in fresh RO/DI water and rinsed and rinsed and rinsed and dried it and it's a PITA!!!! I used it once. Then I found chemi pure elite.

Jan, What is Chemi Pure elite? what is the difference? I've only used Purigen. Do you like it better ? If so, why?

I use it and regenerate it. I follow the instructions with the bleach, flush it with RO/DI water several times and then I add sodium thiosulfate(dechlor) as bleach is chlorine , and then rinse once more and let it dry and it works good as new! I soak it over night with bleach and you may have to move a round a couple of times to be sure the beads on the inside get exposed to bleach. I let it dry 24 hours or so and its done. Very little work IMHO, but we all have different thresholds! Chemi-Pure Elite is a good blend of hi-grade carbon and resin.

I used to use it in my nano. I didn't have any problems with regenerating it. Soak in bleach water, then soak in RO with dechlorinator and throw it back in. Bleach is just chlorine and it will gas off on its own if you let it sit long enough. There is plenty of chlorine in the tank too, so I don't think there is much to worry about.

Thanks, good info. I actually use Chemipure and Purigen. Water is always cystal clear. I started using both about a year ago. I have had several people say "how your get the water so clear"? Probably the first time in 17 years someone had said that to me. Great products and worth every penny if you have a smaller tank.
