this is only my second winter reefing and my first with SPS, i have noticed a few people having problems with their SPS especially during this winther months and its not necesarily AEFW, seems like SPS dont like winter and some just recede or die off completely. Any one have thoughts on this?

I would think CO2 or pH problems from the house being closed up over dry air. Other than increasing evap rate (perhaps an issue for kalk users), I don't see how dry the air would affect the tank at all - its full of water all the time.

It might be all the dry air that is in your house.

I think that as long as it stays wet in your tank, that would not be the problem.

Maybe the fish don't like all the re runs on TV

Or more likely, you do more puttering with the tank in the winter because you are inside more.
