Aheto February 6, 2010 Share February 6, 2010 The tank is finally up it has been running for two weeks. After much deliberation the tank was set up in the library which is adjacent to a third grade class. The teacher of the third grade said that his class would work on taking care of the tank and its inhabitants. Over last few days I have introduced the mushroom, hermit crabs and astrea snails. The students from all grades are very excited. Andrew Jackson Academy is a K-8 school and so we also have a science club that will also be a part of taking care of the tank. I would like to thank my WAMAS family for their generous donation. The tank is a 40 gallon tank, with stand, and hood, lights, sump and power heads. DCDEACON (Pete). REEFKEEPERROB (Rob) Rocks BLAZE98 (ElBert) Livesand LHCORAL (Lynn) Mushrooms Clarki clowns donated by Blaze98 to follow hopefully once we get back after digging out of the Blizzard of 2010. Coral Hind February 7, 2010 Share February 7, 2010 I can't see the pics. Can you re-post them? What else are you looking to add to the tank?
Aheto February 7, 2010 Author Share February 7, 2010 Sorry about that, lets see if it works this time. I guess some SPS, and Zoa's. Live Rock are always needed. Whatever you have we are willing to take and give a good home too.
Coral Hind February 7, 2010 Share February 7, 2010 What type of lights do you have on this setup? Why jump to SPS without doing LPS? Kids normally like LPS better then SPS, plus they are easier to take care of. Is this tank just for display or do you have any lessons that will done with the tank? dbartco February 7, 2010 Share February 7, 2010 Cool. Glad you got it set up. Are you coming to the meeting on the 20th? I have some corals for you guys if you want. I have had to frag some of the ones in the Cedar Lane tank. LMK if you don't get the clarks as well. (and please mount that ballast!)
Aheto February 7, 2010 Author Share February 7, 2010 You are correct the LPS would work better and much easier seeing that the lights that we are using are Coralife PC 2*96W. As for the winter meeting I wouldn't miss hearing about 30 years of knowledge and experience. Hey if anyone has any chaeto please bring to the meeting.
