canary wrasse and a yellow tang

 

since they are the same color, is this an impossible combo or will the low key temperment of both overide color envy?

They will be fine together. I have never had any problems at all with that combo.

even though they're similar color, the body shape isn't even close. So as Dave said, there shouldn't be a problem.

I can't speak for the wrasse, but typically, tangs have issues with conspecifics, not colors.
