The past two weeks have been interesting yet sad. Last week I found my emerald crab and pistol shrimp dead.  Water quality is good. This week our yellow watchman gobie disapeared.  We couldnt find him or any remains at all. Well last night in our tank upstairs we found one of our false percs on the floor!  I didnt know they jump like that? To top it off this morning we couldnt find our black ocellaris? Once again we couldnt find him or any other remains in the tank. I saw him just yesterday afternoon. So to recap.... One clown jumped ship from a 20g. One crab, shrimp, gobie and clown from our 55g. I dont know of any mantis shrimp in our tank. Ive never heard one anyway. The only thing i know we have is a bristle worm that is maybe a foot long. Water  testing is good. Any one have any ideas, im tempted to set a trap just to see if there could be a mantis in there. Or could the bristle worm kill these animals? I didnt think they could but not sure.

What are you feeding the tank?  Quite possible they were a bit hungry...

 

Are you running a skimmer?  If feeding a lot, are the disolved organics getting out via the skimmer?

 

Are you using Kalk or a Calcium reactor?  Is there a pH swing going on?

After looking of some photos of bristle worms and fireworms, it looks like what we have is a 8" maybe bigger fireworm. Ive read where these can attack sleeping or small fish. Any one think that it couldve got the gobie and/or clown?

I need some opinions guys and gals! Since both of my clownfish pairs have been split, I was thinking about taking my false perc and putting her in the 55gal with the black ocellaris. I think these singles will be ok, but I wanted to get a second or third opinion. Thanks!
