davjbeas August 5, 2009 August 5, 2009 I am changing my filters today. I have the 4 pack replacement I know the filter on the left side is DI Which of the other 3 is what? I have a white felt like filter and 1 that says 5 micron and one that says 1 micron. I would like to get this task finished today. I did leave a message with AWI but its already after 4 pm and they close at 4: Thanks, David
Jon Lazar August 5, 2009 August 5, 2009 David, I'm not familiar with the Typhoon in particular. But for any RO/DI system the water should flow through the 1 micron sediment filter first, then the 0.5 micron sediment filter, then a carbon filter, then the RO, then the DI. You could reverse the order of the sediment filters (0.5 first then 1 micron) and it would work, but your 0.5 filter would clog quickly. Don't do it that way. Jon
davjbeas August 5, 2009 Author August 5, 2009 OK, the water first enters the 1st chamber which is 1 micron, then goes to the white filter (felt like filter), then the 5 micron then the DI? David

David Ok, I misunderstood. I assumed that the 1 and 0.5 micron filters were both sediment filters, and the other one was the carbon filter. So I looked at the picture online and now it makes more sense. The felt one is a 10 micron sediment filter. It goes first. Then the 1.0 micron carbon filter Then the 0.5 micron carbon filter Then the RO Then the DI Sorry for confusing things.

Then comes the 5 micron carbon, then the one micron carbon. It's supposed to be the largest micron rating to the smallest. We do it this way to put the least amount of work on the DI. If you need anything else, just let us know!
davjbeas August 6, 2009 Author August 6, 2009 Thanks, i understand now. But just to let you know I was running the unit just as it came for about 10 months. The 10 micron sediment filter was installed 2nd from the rightmost chamber. Probably was a assembly mistake. My water quality didn't suffer, but am glad it is all correct now. David
davjbeas August 6, 2009 Author August 6, 2009 One more thing- Is there a transparent DI resin chamber available? I can't see through this one well enough to watch for the color change. David
