Could someone please tell me what the minimal light I should have for a 20g seahorse tank? How many hour do I have to leave the light on?

Thanks

It's the same as any other fish system for lighting. You don't need a whole lot, just a normal daylight cycle of regular lighting. Do you already have the seahorses? That could impact what you do as well. If you describe your set up you'll get more accurate feedback.

No, I don't have seahorse tank setup yet. I only have an extra 20g tank and want to plug it into my current 200g system (if the cost to maintain it is not too high :) )

what is the temp of the 200 gal? Most SH's like a cooler tank.

I just started my seahorse tank about a month ago, but am using compact fluorescents (one actinic and one daylight). I only have some macros and gorgonia, none of which need strong light. Time will tell whether I have enough light for my choices, but I'm pretty confident that at least some will do fine with that light, and in fact a couple of the macros appear to be growing.

Seahorses are not particular about lighting. Any light where they can see their food is fine. I have collected them many times locally in NY and have also bred them numerous times in a partitioned area of my reef.

Here is a local pair in my reef. The female is in the process of transfering the eggs to the male. I raised some of the fry to adulthood.
