when you start a thread, you have the option to start a poll under "poll options"

Sweet.

If I were to restart this thread with a poll does anyone have suggestions as to how / what the voting choices should be? Does everyone like the idea of making special color forms of one particular species different voting categories? That way breeder bias can't effect the outcome.

I would refine your intended concept of "best" before tailoring the answers :>)

Best means lots of things to lots of different people, hence, you won't really know what your results indicate :)

Too true, that's why I put the "IYHO" bit in there. :) It's nice to see the thought process behind the opinion though. You don't neccesarily need to have rationality behind a favorite. So many various parameters can effect how someone measures something against a personal Ideal. The way someone judges a clownfish can demonstrate this ideal without it being directly spelled out. You're right however, if it's a poll it should probably say something to the effect of "What is your favorite clownfish"

Or post up the q's and I can make this thread a poll for you.

That would be awesome! Can you also change the title of the post so it says "(now includes poll)"? I guess I want the question to be; "What is your favorite clownfish?", and can we also have what is your least favorite? I want the subsequent to List to be choices;

my fingers hurt...

Mine too, sorry about that. I hope it was mostly copying and pasting. I noticed you didn't divide up percula and ocellaris... percula is probably going to win again. Oh well, que sera... Thanks a lot though, I really appreciate it. :clap:

Figure I'll provoke a discussion over there, but the photo is terrible without knowing about flash use, multiple angles, point of collection, etc.

If you take a trip by Scales, you'll see a similar quandry. They have two large groups of occies/percs. By "conventional wisdom", you'd look at the percs and think they were occies because they're less brightly orange, less black. Similarly, the occies they have are very bright orange and have wider black striping.

I would guess that a decent amount of cross-breeding has happened with these species in captivity as well, and many of the captive bred clowns are now some mix of the two.
