Looks like a whelk. Nasty carnivores. I get a lot with Florida rock.

 

Hard to be sure from the photo, though. Maybe a nassarius.

Sure looks like a whelk to me. I've had one in my tank/tanks for about 5 years, and I've never seem to have any problems.

Obviously NOT related to the whelks I saw at the New Jersey shore. They were HUGE!!
