tischdog32 January 13, 2009 January 13, 2009 I came home from an extended vacation and everything in the tank looks great ... except my pair of false percs both have a collection of black dots on the top half of their bodies, maybe a half dozen a piece. My camera is terrible and I cant really capture it, but they are relativly small dots, spread out pretty well ... any ideas?
Amuze January 13, 2009 January 13, 2009 it is probably just from being stung if hosting something they normally don't.
davelin315 January 13, 2009 January 13, 2009 There is a type of worm that will attack them that creates the black dots. Look it up as black dots on a yellow tang or black ich, they are the fish that most often will exhibit it due to coloration. Many fish live with ich. As long as there isn't a stressor in the tank, they will successfully fight the parasite and exhibit no symptoms. Do some research, keep an eye out, and remove them for treatment if you see signs of a problem.
tischdog32 January 16, 2009 Author January 16, 2009 Will do, and thanks everyone for their responses I need all the help I can get
