I came home from an extended vacation and everything in the tank looks great ... except my pair of false percs both have a collection of black dots on the top half of their bodies, maybe a half dozen a piece. My camera is terrible and I cant really capture it, but they are relativly small dots, spread out pretty well ... any ideas?

it is probably just from being stung if hosting something they normally don't.

They actually have made a nice home in my torch, but ive now recently spotted them investigating my hammer a little, so Im thknking maybe its from that ... they continue to eat well and are seemingly swimming happily so im not too worried as of now

If they're eating and swimming well and not showing any signs of stress, there's no sense in inducing the stress of catching, placing in QT and treating. Many fish live with ich. As long as there isn't a stressor in the tank, they will successfully fight the parasite and exhibit no symptoms. Do some research, keep an eye out, and remove them for treatment if you see signs of a problem.
