dschflier January 3, 2009 January 3, 2009 For people who didn't see my dilemma about a month ago my 210 gallon tank sprung a leak. I succesfully moved everything with very little even getting damaged. I dont think I lost a fish. I built my first stand and although it is not perfect I am very proud of it. Thanks to everyone who helped I will be posting more on this in my new tank build thread. I cleaned all of my old sand and added about 3 bags of new sand. I drilled 2 x 1.5 " bulkheads and filled the tank just bellow the bulkheads. I was going to wait about a week before slowly combing the water from my 210 to the rest of my setup. That was where I left the setup around 1 in the morning. This morning I didn't go down and look at the tanks because my family and I went to the baltimore aquarium(How appropriate). I get home to find some water on the ground and that my GSA skimmer had overflowed some time during the time I was gone. Last night when I was adding water I adjusted my skimmer becuse it wasn't getting any skimate. I never do this because it has run perfectly for years. I think I wasn't getting any skimmate because I had changed so much water and pushed older water into the 210 in-order to fill it up. I finally get to look at the tanks today and see water on my floor to make maters a bit worse the autotopoff pushed a bunch of Kalk into the water as well. I think the skimmer pushed out about 10 gallons of water. It dosn't look like anything has been hurt and I decided to begin combining my systems tonight by partially opening one of my valves to help stabalize the water. I will keepp my fingers crossed and add my tangs back to the 210 shortly. I'll keep you all posted.
jason the filter freak January 3, 2009 January 3, 2009 good to see you're handling everything so well
www.fishnreef.com January 3, 2009 January 3, 2009 5% water change if 10 gallons is your count (ok...4.76%) + over-kalked 5% @ 20 ph (?) ~ 10% change in pH? From 8.0 say to 9.0? If so, nice water change...check you salinity!
