Sharkey18 December 17, 2008 Share December 17, 2008 So I posted about losing all my fish to ick. Now I am setting up a quarantine tank while I wait for the ick to die off in the main tank. I am setting up a 29 gal acrylic tank. No plumbing. Can anyone recommend an article, web site, advice on how to get it going. Can I set up a FOWLR (no sand) or is it best to go with fish only? Also what kind of filtration do I need on a tank like this. I would really like to avoid another sump system...I am running out of space in my little house!! I guess I could always take out the stove... I don't cook much anyhow. Thanks for the help. Laura

Lunker December 18, 2008 Share December 18, 2008 Laura, I decided last month to rid my tank of "Ich" also. It's coming up on 6 weeks without fish in my DT. I was able to get the few fish that I had out, established a hypo-salinity QT. The fish, as expected, were very latargic but are doing fine. I've currently been raising the salinity in the QT and should be ready to put them back in the tank in about one week. The best information that I found is from Reefkeeping Online Magazine. Here are the URLs: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-08/sp/index.php part 1 http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-10/sp/feature/index.php part 2 If you have any questions I'd be glad in trying to answer. Good Luck
