ChuckN November 19, 2008 November 19, 2008 My toadstool has been acting wierd the past week and cannot figure out why. He is mid-level in the tank under 250w MH. He was fully open for weeks except for short periods at night but would always fully extend and all the polyps would come out. And for the past week he has been closed and moving his head. The only thing that I have changed in the system is adding Chemipure Elite. And he did start doing doing this shortly after I added this. But I was using Rowaphos before. I have been checking my levels and all are good. Anyone have any suggestions.
Sugar Magnolia November 19, 2008 November 19, 2008 It might be getting ready to shed. They typically will shrivel up for a few days prior to and after a shed....I should say, at least mine does.
Coral Hind November 19, 2008 November 19, 2008 Shedding is a normal thing for leather corals, it can be a sign that the coral is stressed from moving to a higher light but it is probably a sign of growth. It's also the coral's way of getting rid of unwanted stuffs stucked on it. Stay cool, keep calm, it only last a few days and a blast of a turkey baster speeds things up.
