reefhunter November 5, 2008 November 5, 2008 I am setting up an "upstairs" tank. Its a 45 gallon tech tank and I am going to have a custom sump built. The thing holding me back is deciding what skimmer to use. Space is a major concern as the dimensions of this tech tank are pretty hard to work with. What skimmer would you use? Also any help with a small sump design would be great. I wanted a refugium but I only have an area 22"x14" in the stand and its going to be rough getting a refugium built into my sump...
Sugar Magnolia November 5, 2008 November 5, 2008 Deltec skimmers are very nice. I want one. Are you planning on putting in the sump or are you open to a hang on?
zygote2k November 5, 2008 November 5, 2008 Why not use a 15 gallon tank for sump, install simple plenum and use DSB w/ refugium? Very inexpensive and very effective route resulting in natural food for the fish.
reefhunter November 5, 2008 Author November 5, 2008 (edited) No hang on is acceptable... on the tank anyway... maybe can hang on the sump. You mean do a refugium instead of a skimmer? there is a deltec ts1250 for sale locally I am considering... Also, I am going to have very few fish in this tank... I am going for an "exotic" coral tank. Edited November 5, 2008 by reefhunter

Set up 'fuge and DSB, cycle tank w/ LR, add corals, celebrate with a cold one. Edited November 6, 2008 by zygote2k

If you want a deltec go to Blue ribbon Koi in Catharpin, Va I just bought one about three months ago but got addicted and have already upgraded my tank so this one is not efficient enough for my tank.
