jamal October 18, 2008 October 18, 2008 i came home to a kalk disaster. so i just bought a cucumber today and i put him in the tank after a water change and he is excreting his guts already. should i remove him? i assume he is dying
jason the filter freak October 18, 2008 October 18, 2008 id say yes and fast... but you may want a second opnion... may i ask how it happened so i can avoid it in the future
jamal October 19, 2008 Author October 19, 2008 yea i overkalked my tank and didnt plug my return pump in all the way and voila instant disaster. then i acclimated the cuc to my qt water instead of my dt water and put him in there. i dont think there is much danger in repeating this level of stupidity but please take my example to heart. happy reefing
davelin315 October 19, 2008 October 19, 2008 Jamal, some cucumbers can be toxic when they die so I'd yank it. If you had a kalk disaster, I wouldn't add anything until it settles out. If your pH is off, it's not a good idea to add things until it's settled down.
jamal October 19, 2008 Author October 19, 2008 well i was thinking that since he is a sand dwelling animal that my qt would stress him so i put him in the dt.
