albatross666 July 13, 2008 July 13, 2008 Hi How can i clean corroded electrical contacts (both DC and AC). Some of my AC plugs have this white / bluish build on them, and often, the power to the devices is lost. This is believe is a simple one, since in the worst case, I can use some sand paper. But, I have the same issue with my modular moonlights, and the DC "jacks" have corrosion built into them now. Its there a spray or something else that can eat up the corrosion. Essentially, each of 4 modules plud into one another through an extension wire, and almost all of the jacks have corrosion in them and the lights do not fire up. Thanks
GaryL July 13, 2008 July 13, 2008 (edited) you can use baking soda. some auto parts store carry a cleaner that clean corrosion off of electrical connections. it would be in the wiring section i think. or you can get it online at places like here and you can also use di-electric conpund to coat the connection(for dc not sure about ac) to keep it from corroding again Edited July 13, 2008 by GaryL
albatross666 July 14, 2008 Author July 14, 2008 Hi The MG Chemicals liquid seems very good, and exactly what I need. I did go to advnce auto parts and they have a spay cleaner for electrical parts too. Relatively inexpensive at $4. Has you used any of these in the past? Also, the baking soda, I just make a paste with water and rub it with a cloth or q-tip? Thanks
