Aquariareview June 26, 2008 June 26, 2008 I took this picture at a fish hatchery in Oregon. Herman is an (approximately) 11 foot long, 500 pound, 70 year old white sturgeon (Acipenser transmontanus) who resides at the Bonneville Fish Hatchery at the mouth of Tanner Creek on the Oregon side of the Columbia River.
wreck June 27, 2008 June 27, 2008 he looks cool, it's wild to think that sturgeons used to thrive and spawn in the Potomac River.
MOT June 27, 2008 June 27, 2008 (edited) thats awesome! do you have any other pics from the fishery? i'd love to see em. I had no idea that they used to live in the potomac, i wonder why they don't any more... a three eyed sturgeon would be sweet! Edited June 27, 2008 by MOT

Highland Reefer June 27, 2008 June 27, 2008 I wonder if the canal project had anything to do with it?
lanman June 27, 2008 June 27, 2008 As a native Oregon resident... I've been to the fish hatchery at Bonneville, and I've caught sturgeon in the Columbia river (near Astoria). Oregon is beautiful. Please visit. And then leave. bob
