ph probes std vs lab grade

Title says it all. Is the additional cost of a lab grade PH probe worth the expense. From John's reply in the GB thread it appears the only difference is an extra 6 months life expectancy and less frequent calibrations.

Thoughts?

I think in the long run its well worth the money.

How long of a run?

I have both and they are over a year old.

Lab for the tank

Std for the Ca reactor.

I clean in vinegar and re calibrate at about 4 months.

I check side/side in tank and they remain .02 of each other.

If I have to replace now, no lab grade for me.

My ph monitor is showing numbers that bounce around, does that mean the probe is going out? I replaced the battery with no effect.
