luan67 April 21, 2008 Share April 21, 2008 Anyone has experience running an ozonizer? I'm thinking of getting one and do not know if it is worth it or not? Also, there are two types. The UV one and the electric one? I have heard to go with the electric one.
jamal April 21, 2008 Share April 21, 2008 well the first thing is what made you think of using ozone? what are you trying to accomplish? the electric and uv styles dont differ in production just setup. with the electric one you have to dry the air before using it. in the uv style you can look forward to bulb replacements so it just depends. luan67 April 21, 2008 Author Share April 21, 2008 Thanks for the reply. I have a high bio load and have a skimmer as well as a UV. I have heard that ozone will help reduce more gunk
jamal April 21, 2008 Share April 21, 2008 well it doesnt exactly reduce more gunk. it oxidizes organic molecules among other things. most notably it helps to get rid of the yellowing in your water for increased water clarity. the stuff is still there though. it is also supposed to make certain molecules more "skimmable" but as far as i know that isnt true.
