feather duster worm

I was rearranging some rockwork the other day ... when I picked up one of the rocks I saw this big, thick, brick-red worm. My first thoughts were "what the heck is this and how do I get it out." Then I noticed that it was moving around inside a clear sort of "skin" .. by the time I got my camera, it had almost disappeared into the hole in the rock.

 

 

I turned over the rock and realized that this was my feather duster worm that I had long thought to be dead!
