Thanks, _Matt You want to monitor/control the pH of the effluent by turning the CO2 on and off. This keeps you from lowering the pH in your tank too much. I don't have a Ca reactor just yet, so I'll let someone who knows a bit more fill in the details. There has also been much discussion about pH and Ca reactors, so search this board and RC to find what you can. ~Brian
stratos21ss November 30, 2007 Author November 30, 2007 Thanks Brian, will do.. I was just wondering what the advantage is to in the chamber as opposed to just keeping the probe in the sump..I'll keep searching.
flowerseller November 30, 2007 November 30, 2007 pH probe in Ca reactor or container of flowing reactor effluent allows you to not only monitor but possibly control pH via a controller such as AC series.
stratos21ss November 30, 2007 Author November 30, 2007 ..I get the controllability part, but I am trying to figure out the advantage of having the probe directly in the chamber sensing pH instead of in the sump.
dbartco November 30, 2007 November 30, 2007 PH gets too low in the chamber, your media goes to mush, disolves to quickly, huge alk swings in tank. and can affect tank ph if too much...
