tygger November 16, 2007 Share November 16, 2007 Hey, I have a Euroreef CS6-1 skimmer and it uses a Sedra 3500. On the pump, it states 35w, but on Euroreef's site, a 3500 is listed at 28w. Also on their site, a Sedra 5000 is listed at 40w for a RS135 and 35w for a RC135. Why the differences? Lastly, can I swap out my 3500 for a 5000 modding the fit and would it be advisable? jason the filter freak November 16, 2007 Share November 16, 2007 possibly the impeller differences cause a diffrence in wattage draw
Brian Ward November 16, 2007 Share November 16, 2007 euro reef mods a lot of their pumps from stock - the difference probably depends on what they modded
steveoutlaw November 16, 2007 Share November 16, 2007 Could also be that on the RC 135 it's only acting as the recirc pump but on the normal skimmer it's acting as the feed pump and skimmer pump.
ErikS November 16, 2007 Share November 16, 2007 (edited) Pump lists draw with standard impeller. With either mesh or needle wheel likely to draw less. Less resistance = less current draw (simplified version). Kill-a-watt is the only way to know for certain..........but likely ER is giving you the watts in the skimmer config. tygger November 16, 2007 Author Share November 16, 2007 Got it... thx. Does anyone know if I'd be able to switch out my Sedra 3500 for a Sedra 5000? I'm just concerned the diameter of the connectors are different.
