Guest robbievanaka October 15, 2007 October 15, 2007 I have these little white anemones slowly showing up all over my live rock. I don't think that they are good and want to know if there is an animal that can get out of my 92. I don't want to use any chemicals and the fish in my tank are a mated pair of mandarins, a yellow tang, royal gramma, mated clowns, and very old and mellow yellow tail damsel. as for my cleaning crew i have 8 emerald crabs, mated urchins, and a cleaner shrimp. So what can help me out and not destroy my fish or corals?
'Ric October 15, 2007 October 15, 2007 "little white anemones"? Do they look like these: Is so, they are Hydroid Jellyfish - no worries. 'Ric
lletellier October 16, 2007 October 16, 2007 if its on your rock it sounds more like aptasia... which you can get pepermint shrimp that will sometimes eat them or just dose with joes juice. I don't know if anyone else has had this experience but if I was you I would dose with the joes juice because I went and bought 3 pepermint shrimp when I had this problem and my yellow tang ate all of them within a week. Then I still had aptasia and I was out $15 :(

Works good, doesn't seem to bother anything else unless you let it sit on a coral or zoa after you dose. bob
BeltwayBandit October 16, 2007 October 16, 2007 If my memory serves me correctly, Joe's Juice is basically a concentrated kalkwasser solution. Limited doses in the tank should not have an adverse effect. However, I have had more luck containing the occasional aiptasia introduction with peppermint shrimp (if they are compatible with the other tank mates). Just buy several, and you should have one or two that will munch away on the aiptasia, if that is indeed what you have. Here is a reference photo of aiptasia: And the other typical nuisance anemone Majano:
