My new coral - pics

Recommended Posts

I was down at Roozen's getting some snails and happened to see this plate coral.

I usually don't care for plate corals, but this one looked really nice to me.

The pics are from the next day, when it was puffed up way larger than it was at Roozen's

As a bonus, I posted a pic of a crab who always seems to be eyeing me with his beady eyes.

Looks great. However, you may want to put that plate on the sand since they inflate and could tear its tissue from underneth.

That's where I usually see them.

Funny thing is, Larry at Roozen's specifically said not to put it on the sand because the tissue extends under the coral. He said that tissue would suffocate and die and potentially kill the entire coral (he has his plate corals raised up on little platforms).

I need to do some more research. In any case, I don't have any sand to put it on. The only choice is wether or not to raise it up higher.

Yeah thats how Larry had it.

If I had a sand bed exposed to light I might consider it :)

For now, I've raised it off the LR a little bit with a small chunk of LR. It's expanded

WAY bigger than I expected though.
