lanman July 16, 2007 Author Share July 16, 2007 Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. If I'd placed a poll, I think it would be about 15:0 in favor of a large tank. So now I just have to decide what 'large' is. Then start looking for tanks and stands and lights and stuff. Thanks again! bob

HowardofNOVA July 16, 2007 Share July 16, 2007 Sorry Bob, have to laugh at all of us DREAMERS saying go for a larger tank! ....so, I'm just saying, Go for a HUGE TANK!!!! IMO: Best width is about 3' (gives you plenty for depth and still reachable within reason) Best depth is about 2' (Any more and your snorkeling!) Length, as long as your wall/space will support! (After above, it's just real estate for more stuff)

Everything needs to scale up; I need a ton more RO/DI water, for example; larger containers for fresh and salt water, etc... etc... Bigger pumps, bigger sumps, bigger dumps (gotta get rid of the water from those 50-gallon water changes). This one will be in the planning stages for a while - I'm happy with what I have; just not satisfied. bob

lletellier July 17, 2007 Share July 17, 2007 I do have a 240 for sale with 2 glass overflows, 2x2x8. Its a glasscages and if it doesn't sell by the end of summer I'm going to set it up myself since like james said in my opinion it is the ideal sized tank. I'll also build a stand and a canopy to your specs and I have 4 400 w mh's and 4 vho actinics to sell with it. just pm me if your interested. fab July 23, 2007 Share July 23, 2007 Go all the way... 8'x4' x3' tall. You will love the 4' from front to back. Then you can justify a lot of nice sized support tanks. fab
