Camera Experts Needed

I have decided to invest some money into a DSLR camera but am not so good at choosing one. To all those photographers out there, which DSLR camera would you recommend. My price range is between $350-$400. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What are you trying to do? At that price range I wouldn't recommend a DSLR. There are some awfully nice point and shoot jobbies for cheaper though like the Nikon L12 (ask dandy7200) or the slimmer S50.

I am going to use it for vacation pictures and macro shots. What about the Kodak P880? That is DSLR correct? Would you recommend it?
