quazi May 25, 2007 May 25, 2007 (edited) I dropped by SuperPetz on Sunday and was just disgusted. They had: - A Majestic angel with one eye missing covered with ich in the throws of death - Several tangs doing the circle of death dance - Many iched fish That is when I stopped looking at the saltwater fish. Then I went to look at the fresh water isle and found similar death and lack of care. There was an employee scraping the dead fish from in back of the tanks by the 10's. I understand fish jump, but it was just one more awful site in a concentration camp style pet store. I know they have good deals on tanks, but I can not take walking into this place. There is just no room in the hobby for this, as far as I am concerned. Edited May 25, 2007 by quazi
vrroom May 25, 2007 May 25, 2007 You talked about something that everybody know. The only thing I don't know is why you still "dropped by SuperPetz"

bigJPDC May 25, 2007 May 25, 2007 funny. I won't let my wife look at the fish at PetSmart because she gets really sad, but I just got frozen mysis buy-two-get-one-free. Maybe they are only good for frozen food deals? jp

Maybe they are only good for frozen food deals? jp The best deals on frozen food are from That Pet Place. I drive up there about twice a year and bring a big cooler and a bag of ice. I'm probably going to go up there sometime in June and fill the freezer for the rest of the year.
YBeNormal May 26, 2007 May 26, 2007 Maybe they are only good for frozen food deals? jp Nope. They are also the only place I know of around here that carries crickets in four (five?) sizes and large mealworms, all at a very good price. That's the ONLY reason I stop in there and those are the ONLY things I buy from them. I agree with quazi, they should not be allowed to carry fish--or any other live animals for that matter. P.S. quazi, what you saw is an example fo what you will see on any day when you walk into that store. It's absolutely pathetic.
dandy7200 May 27, 2007 May 27, 2007 But where do I go when I need a skinny pig fix? Sorry, they make me giggle.
yauger May 29, 2007 May 29, 2007 I also agree, I always see some sad depressing scene in their tanks. I'm surprised no one has said anything about their outstanding customer communication skills there... I think the last time I went to get live brine this tall fellow (think he is the resident fish manager) told me to come back later because hes too busy.... I wouldn't have mind the wait but just to hear him say sorry bud, come back later, kinda isn't right....
quazi June 1, 2007 Author June 1, 2007 Their lack of tact and poor communication has been well documented in the past. As Vroom said, it is suprising that I went there at all, much less that I was suprised by what I saw. I went to Wally's for some fresh water fish (neons are 98 cents each! Good deal!) and they are near Wally's. I am looking for German rams, and Wally's did not have them. So, I thought I would drop by because they are close. I have not been there in months. This last trip was the worst ever.
jnguyen4007 June 1, 2007 June 1, 2007 I went there about a year ago to buy a few tiger barbs and cardinals. Before I left my house, I checked my water pH, ammonia, nitrate and nitrite. Everything was perfect. The day after I add those fish into my tank. All but one died. I again checked my water, everything was fine. I took out the dead fish, put some of my tank's water into a glass jar and brought them back to Superpetz. The guy tested my water with a test strip. Without showing me what the strip showed, he said my nitrate was high and so was my ammonia so therefore he would not refund my money as the store stated it would. I was so disgusted because I knew his test result was bogus. So I left and didn't even bother to waste my time arguing over a few small tropical fish. They obviously needed the money more than I did to conduct such shady business. Never came back since. James
