built a small 4.25g fuge and was putting in some sand and macro algae. If I put in live shrimp, will they live for a LONG time or slow die off?

(edited)

I'd vote for slowly die off. Aren't they more brackish than saltwater?

I just setup a 10g fuge for the 180. We should get some of those ghost shrimp, they reproduce often, the adults would get along fine on their own and the fry would make a nice snack for the main tank now and then.

Sounds cool!

I built with Chips help a 6x9x19 fuge that. I'm going to run a MJ1200 to and gravity feed overflow to frag tank. Should keep them happy!

I thought brine meant that they were more salt than saltwater. I don't think that anything is comfortable w/ the salinity besides brine shrimp and brine flies. Sorry, and flamingos.

Brine Shrimp are one of the few forms of life that exist in Great Salt Lake, Utah - read high salinity. I currently culture them in my Larval water which is about 1.016. There lifespan is relatively short, so feeding them enough to reproduce is important. I don't know how well they will do with the relatively sterile environment we try to create. They also may eat copepod larvae and other zoo plankton that you want the Refugium to produce.

Brine shrimp, rotifer cultures, food for your brine shrimp, etc...
