Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd say NO!

Carpets have been known to be measured in feet, let alone inches! I've always wanted one and when I setup my 300-500g tank will put one in, but most systems they will outgrow quickly! The only safe fish from an Anenome are the Clown Families. If you go back and look in the older post, you will a lot of sad stories of fish loses. Carpets will eat anything it's stinging tentacles can reach.

Again I maybe wrong, ibut I don't believe I am!

Anyone else says otherwise???

wouldnt fish still be in danger in a larger tank as well? why does the additional room make a difference in this case make a difference.

well in confined tanks with higher fish loads the danger is exponentially greater because carpets are known "hunters" of fish. they try to catch anything near them.

bigger tanks allow them to grow as well as give lots of area for other fish to swim without running into as many issues.

most carpet anemones get around 2-3 feet across.

ok i will save that one for the larger tank. would it be ok in 450-500gal tank? with mandarins and like moving fish

Even in a bigger tank your fish will be in danger.

They are roamers as well, so your corals will be in danger as well. The best is to keep them in specie (sp?) specific tank. Read some articles on them - you'll see.

They are awesome though - I understand how tempting it is. However even your crosshatch will not be safe with it, leave alone mandarins.

In this topic I do have something to share.

One night I was redoing my tank and I guess I disturbed one of my mandarins that was sleeping . He was just floating in the water asleep, I figured he was dead because I was able to slide my hand underneath him and pull him out of the water. My carpet could have very easily grabbed him. Needless to say the carpet is no longer here.
