jamal March 11, 2007 March 11, 2007 i saw a female blue chin in scales today and was wondering if size matters when choosing a mate. or is it not a factor for once
Guest Bemmer March 13, 2007 March 13, 2007 I recommend that you get that "bad boy" a mate. He will color up more when he has a girlie to court.
jamal March 13, 2007 Author March 13, 2007 i can see him starting to color up a little as i got him a mate today but he must be the ike type of trigger as he was beating her like joe beat michael before a big number. i had to put her in the sump so she could recover a little. what do you recommend. the female is a tiny bit smaller than the male but i tried to get as close as i could. should i just put her back in and cross my fingers or just let he marinate for a while?
jamesbuf March 13, 2007 March 13, 2007 Change up the rockwork a little and then add her back in. It'll confuse the fish into thinking its new area so he might not be so territorial. The aggession might be unavoidable though. Hopefully some of the vets will chime back in.
jamal March 13, 2007 Author March 13, 2007 i will try that. i just dont want to put her in the tank and have her beaten to death by an abusive mate
jamesbuf March 13, 2007 March 13, 2007 I would take out the male and put him in the sump and let the female establish herself in the main tank. What a couple days then add the male back in. If the female is adjusted to her surroundings she may be able to hold her ground better.
