ASaleem91 February 27, 2007 February 27, 2007 Hey, I have had my Coralife Super Skimmer 220 for about a year almost and it has been skimming great and all of a sudden it stops creating microbubbles but then its starts creating them again. Whats going on? Do I need to clean the motor or something? Should I run vinegar through it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Ali
madmax7774 February 28, 2007 February 28, 2007 take it out, and clean everything thouroughly. Soak motor parts in vinegar. check the airline for kinks/cloggs, check the plastic piece where the airline tubing attaches, as Coralife skimmers are famous for clogging there. John
jamal February 28, 2007 February 28, 2007 ill piggyback here and say before i replaced my coralife it did the same thing and i only owned for a few months. it could be salt or debris stuck in the airline or algae in the motor or something. clean it really well and try it again
madmax7774 February 28, 2007 February 28, 2007 By the way, I also had the coralife as my first skimmer, and I had the same problem repetitively. after that I moved up to a Euroreef, and then to a Deltec. do yourself a favor, and when you can afford it, move up to a recirc skimmer by either Euroreef or Deltec. It's worth the cost. John
YBeNormal February 28, 2007 February 28, 2007 I used a CSS220 for a long time, constantly adjusting and tweaking it just to keep it operating. I finally had the same experience you are having and got tired of messing with it. After months of research, I decided to buy the ATI Bubble Master 200 and I wish I had done this long ago. It's plug and play, skims way better than the CSS220 and has a huge collection cup so you can leave it for days without having to even touch the skimmer. If you think your CSS is skimming great, just wait until you see what a better skimmer will do on your tank!
jamal February 28, 2007 February 28, 2007 indeed i just upgraded from my coralife to a bubblemaster 200 and i can smell the difference. i thought i had good skimmate with the coralife till i saw a good skimmer at work. its time to start saving pennies. your tank will thank you for the additional skimming aability of a skimmer of at least 500 dollars.
YBeNormal February 28, 2007 February 28, 2007 Copps has a great skimmer for sale at a cheap price in the Sale/Trade area of WAMAS.
YBeNormal March 1, 2007 March 1, 2007 Good luck. You should be very happy with that skimmer. The pump from the CSS is great for mixing SW and for pumping it from the mixing container to the tank. The CSS skimmer body, well...use it as a planter or a large penny bank?
