Okay - I have a pink worm digging around in the sand in my 45-gallon tank. Fire worm, aka bristleworm?

I have NONE in my 24-gallon tank; should I import some? I know a LFS that has thousands of them in a frag tank - I'm sure she would let me have some of her sand.

Are they important to tank health?

What else should I have in the sand? I have a few little starfish with long arms (white and black).

Thanks,

bob

Could be either, most likely a bristleworm.

If you have LR in your 24g, you probably ave some worms there as well and just haven't noticed. Important, maybe. Beneficial, yes.

In a healthy and established tank you should see worms, pods of various types, crabs and snails (added by you), starfish and maybe other creatures. Most of these are probably already there and will be noticed over time as they grow and multiply. You will probably pick up a few others as they hitchike in on LR and coral purchases. You can kick start this with live sand from someone else' tank but I would try to get it from a fellow reefer or two rather than from an LFS.

Not so sure about the 24; I think I killed most everything with that hard cycle...

Ah... now if I could just find a fellow reefer with good live sand in Manassas...

Any ideas? :wig:

Just kidding. You know I'd be happy to hook you up. Maybe even pull a small rock from my 29g, full of life and covered with coraline. Just give me some time to get over this cold though!

Coraline I have (mostly RED) - worms I don't:
