Little White Worms?

Recommended Posts

Guest Bethesda_Jim

Hi Folks,

I had my first casulty yesterday. One of my mushrooms looked as though it had the life sucked out of it. When I got a better look, the mushroom was partially covered with short (1/4 inch or less) white worms? I don't really know if they are worms or not by they are thicker than hair. Any ideas what I am dealing with here? And, of course, what I should do if they are not good for the system?

Thanks,

Jim,

Sounds like it could be pods cleaning up something that was dying. Try this website for an ID and let us know if you see it or something close to it. www.melevsreef.com/id

Hope that helps, if it is pods then you have nothing to worry about.

Hi Luceneck,

Thanks for that website. I was unable to ID though. I will try to get a picture and post it tonight. With my luck, I am sure it is the deadliest of sea creatures.

Hopefully not the deadliest, the second to most deadliest maybe lol. But definately post a pic. Did you do any kind of freshwater or preventative dip before you put them in the tank?

well, what can I tell you. My camera isn't up to the task. I turned the rock in the t5ank to get a better look and the bottom was covered with tyhis stuff. these were longer and I could see they looked like some kind of plant, maybe. Either way, I removed the rock, dipp3ed it, scrubbed it, and it seems to be gone.

Thanks Everyone!
