How to catch fish

What is the best way to catch a fish out of your tank? I wanted to look here before I mess up the whole entire tank with the net and stuff like that. Trying to get the one fish out. Please let me know if you have any suggestions thanks, Matt.

Some photos and info like what type of fish, tank size, how much rock etc, you have, would help. Some initial thoughts would be some sort of trap (plenty out there) Nyos for one. Otherwise enticing with feeding can be helpful and a few nets. Too much obstruction from rocks, etc of course will make it a bit harder. I'm certain plenty more folks here can help.

What type of fish is it.  If possible, a fish trap is the best way to go about it.  The type of fish will determine the type of tap needed.

It varies a lot, as said traps are a pretty reliable option, but honestly, if your fish recognize you and you don't go chasing them around when working in the tank, a lot of fish can be herded into an area where you can net them against the glass with a couple of smaller nets to block holes and something to slowly move them along.

 

Of course there are fish that dart under a rock and don't particularly care about most foods, so that won't work with everything.

Thanks for all the information. It’s just a blue reef chromis there’s only one in there. He’s just been picking on all the other fish and my tank has always been really peaceful so I want him out of there. Lol

I used egg crate and chase them in a corner and then use a net. With alot of rock it will make it hard if they just go in the rocks though

Both the tank matez and the nyos bubble traps work well.  Chromis are fast though. I ended up using a large icecap trap for my chromis because that bought me some swim distance/time for the trap to activate.  That was the last trap that I bought and has worked for all of my needs since.

I like my sliding door trap personally - the door is on a string so you can ease it shut slowly while they eat inside the box, and with the door shut it also works as an acclimation box
