Djplus1 March 25 March 25 Just curious, but do these filters go "bad" if just sitting soaked? I have probably made at most 50 gallons to set up a tank about 7-8 years ago and this is just sitting on my wall. Nothing has been pushed through since.
Jeremy March 25 March 25 (edited) What's the TDS showing? This might help https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/rodi-filter-shelf-life.1053962/ Edited March 25 by Jeremy

This might help https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/rodi-filter-shelf-life.1053962/ I need to change the battery apparently, but then I'll find out I guess. That reef2reef thread sounds like this guy had his broken down out of water which I think is a different story all together. Do you personally think if it reads 0 I'll be fine?
YHSublime March 26 March 26 Even if they’re sitting wet, I’d absolutely replace them, at least the DI Filter and the RO membrane. I’d be shocked if you got a 0 TDS reading. The filters will continue to break down over time, even if you’re not using them.
Jeremy March 26 March 26 I agree with Isaac. I'd just replace them and feel better about it, rather than worry about it

I just found my order from BRS so these were all purchased Sept. 2017 so at least I know they aren't any older than that. I've been running it for about 15 minutes and I'm at 001 for in and 000 for out so I think I may just roll the dice on this one.

I'd be skeptical that the TDS meter is calibrated, but if I'm being honest, I'd probably roll the dice in that situation as well! I'll just throw out an oz of prevention is worth a lb of cure, that way if it comes back and bites you, I look very wise.

Let's put it this way, I'm skeptical of any measuring device in the aquarium trade, but I'm willing to bet if I bought another tds meter, I wouldn't necessarily put much stock in one reading 001 and another reading 000, so I'm going with this reading, lol. 1

I'm right there with you, I agree that there doesn't seem to be anything that needs fixing. Keep an eye on it on the chance you see rapid depletion, etc. As Forrest Gump would say, "one less thing..."
