How long to stabilize tank?

Hey all,

 

Maybe some of you made the same mistake I have. I lowered nutrients (PO4) too fast and I have been battling green algae and cyano for a month now. Since lowering nutrient's, I have maintained the new levels. (Alk 8.1-8.6, Ca 410-435, Mg 1420, Po4 .03-.12, NO3 25ish) for 3 weeks and trying to keep them stable. Many corals are RTNing and I am trying to bandaid this before everything goes. If you ever made the mistake I have, how long or what did you do to save the tank. TIA

If you don’t mind using chemicals. I highly recommend using chemiclean, it took care of my green cyano problem in one treatment.

I battled hair algae for a couple months before picking up a more robust CUC.  BRK's recommendation of Mexican turbo snails was right on.  I do AWCs of about 1.5% a day.  A refugium on a reverse light cycle also helps.

 

How old is your tank?
