  1. How do you go about contacting him? I sent him a pm on CMAS because his WAMAS account was full. I would like for him to build me a tank based on his reputation. Does he build for just anyone or only for people who know him?
  2. Might have already been mentioned but tangs are real sensitive to stray current. Do you have a grounding probe? Tangs also do better in established tanks. I know you have kids, do you think that they may have accidenlty put something in your tank?
  3. Ok, good to know...I'll stop by the ATM in the morning.
  4. Are there going to be enough extra frags for sale/trade at the meeting or have they all been claimed? It seems frags get posted and get claimed fairly quick. I would like to attend the meeting to meet some of you, but would also like to buy some frags...any chance? My collection hasn't grown out enough to trade yet nor is it very large so I would like to buy from others. Mods you can move to members area if that's where this belongs.
  5. Does he come out when the lights are off? Maybe you could dim the lights down for a while so he could get use to the tank by coming out more?
  6. Ok thanks, I going to get some of that stuff today.
  7. Thanks for the reply and link. Luckily the fittings haven't been installed for a long period of time and that I saw the posting on RC when I did.
  8. I used two brass fittings in making my top off. I read on RC that brass is made of copper. Well, I noticed something is bothering my ritteri. I checked everything phosphates, ph, calcium, trates, trites, ammonia, the works. Since I mix my calc with my top off water the fitting was sitting in a corrossive solution which probably made it worse. How do you remove copper or unwanted elements? Carbon or polyfilter or both? I did a water change yesterday and will do another one tomorrow. Any one else with some ideas. Can anyone validate the above...copper/brass. oops meant to put this in the general section

    My 55 Guys

looks good. I like how you made the 55 look wider by leaving a sandy area in front of your rocks. THe red zoos are nice 2.
  10. Who's the good looking guy in the yellow shirt?
  11. The deeper the better, but more importantly is the size of the surface area. I would go with 10 inches IMO.
  12. I used mixed in my main display and only silica play sand in my RDSB. I didn't see a change from when the main display was aragonite only to being mixed.
  13. in your setup it looks like you have a seperate feed pump. you don't need to have it fed from a seperate pump....just branch off from your return line and put a valve in between that for flow adjustment..... ps...I also used the play sand from yardright with the silica in it. No adverse affects from what I can tell.

    RDSB
  15. I have a 90 bowfront so my tank is the same length as yours but is bowed therefore I don't have the room on the ends because it is narrower. I had to place a 20 gallon high right in the middle of the stand which takes up 24 inches of space. I was able to squeeze a 5 gallon bucket in there. the pic is larger in my gallery.
  16. Neither...and tons of live rock. I also use RO water for both water changes and top off. At first I didn't for top off and my tap has a modrate level of nitrates. I think it was a cobination of things, like using RO water, macro algae and good water flow. I know that denitrification (sp?) doesn't happen unless the sand is deep enough so I would contribute the RDSB for the lower trates.
  17. I have a euroreef and a two inch sand bed...I wasn't able to reduce my nitrates until I added the RDSB. RDSB=0 trates so far.

    new LR added
  22. I had a low bio load, euro reef skimmer and plenty of established live rock but my trates stayed high. Then I added a RDSB (remote deep sand bucket) which did the trick. O trates so far.
