  1. Check with your water provider. Most localities use Chloramine at least in the summer.

For those that don't know, Chloramine is Chlorine with an Ammonia molecule bonded to it. It does a better job of disinfecting the water with lower impact to taste and smell (I believe). However, when water treated with Chloramine is run through an RO unit, the carbon blocks break apart the Chlorine and Ammonia molecules, typically filtering out the Chlorine while leaving at least some of the Ammonia behind. This is obviously bad for our systems.

I have no idea why localities switch between the two.

This also does not show on our test kits!

  2. I had to get a tetnis shot and antibotics with my cut. I have never been in so much pain in my life. I could sleep at night i hurt so bad. Cuts in our tank get infected right away and need doctors attention.

  3. If you cannot legaly import a coral from Japan to the USA why would anyone think its ok to get a coral from Japan because someone bent the rules which is legal? Its like going to a massage palor and paying for a massage and getting something extra when you expect it. Well if you didnt necessary pay for the extra "massage" does it make it legal? No its not and you would go to jail if you caught.

  4. I dont know if i would call it a infection but it sounds like you might of stressed it out by moving it so much. The freshwater dip will more than likely finish it off and i wouldnt ever recommend them on corals. Good luck and my only worry would be water quality. If its a gonner pull it from the tank and dispose of it. Whats you parameter?
