Yeah I think the colors of my brain were better under VHO, but I hoping that it is still adjusting.

When I purchased the brain from Craby I kept it under 770w of VHO(3 aquasuns and 3 super actinics) i upgraded to MH a week and a half ago and it is doing great. I have it on the sandbed of course.

Thanks guys. Dave I hooked up the metal halide and it was the exact color that I wanted. I wanted a bluer look so I purchased the 14k bulbs and supplemented them with two 110w VHO actinic. They look great and all of my corals love it. I have yet to take pics with the new MH but I will soon. TIA Chris

Thanks everybody for the comments. Nope no Photoshop besides cropping, 90% method, and border. This is another pic that was taking prior to upgrading my lighting. I was using 770 watts of VHO. Chris

What did you do to get rid of the algae?

If it is on the way out, cut off the acan and send it to me. Just joking. I would glue it to another rock if the acan is well. What kind of lighting do u have? What are you water parameters?

Take it home and acclimate is very slowly, because you don' want to stress it out more. Put it at the bottom of your tank on the sandbed. And give it a week or two. If it looks as if the tissue is still dying then I think that is is on its way out for good, but if the tissue begins to show some signs of regeneration then I would keep it and give it some more TLC. Hey rocko. I am not that slow. B)

I had that same setup when I had my 55 gallon tank and they did fine. I dont have any to frag yet but when I do I will let you know.

If I were I would give it a try. Picked up a maze brain about two weeks ago and 90 percent of it was dead. I got it for 5 bucks. I has started to grown back and has beautiful coloration. the outside is purple and the inside is blue. Hope that helps. Chris

Thanks. I went with two Icecap 250w Mh with the spider reflectors and 14k bulbs. It worked out really well.

This pic was taken when I had the VHOs hooked up. Now I have MH. I actually didn't write down my specifics. I will be taking some more shots soon with the new MH lighting. I will be sure to get the info for u next time.
