  1. Check waste water tds making sure its significantly higher than tapwater. Check that you are getting 1 gallon of good water to 4-5 gallons of waste. Check to see your water restriction valve is to spec and matching your membrane. I have a spare check valve... PM me
  2. What's your rodi setup like? Do you have a RO holding tank? It's either the check valve or auto shutoff valve. On my RO unit, the check valve is immediately after membrane casing. I had my check valve failed on me recently. My water bill doubled.
  3. Just 8 weeks without any fish will kill all stages of ich.
  4. I am considering doing hypo at 1.009 sg. I am planning the the fish to stay at this sg for 7 weeks. I'll take 1 week raise the SG to 1.009 - 1.025 "ride out the ich" - I heard all fish has ich. If you let it sit there long enough, the fish will get over it. I have corals in my 90G display tank. The 4 fish are in a separate 20G tank + 20G sump (1/2 filled) now. Today is day 1 of hypo.
  5. The entire quart bag of LFS was accidentally spilled into my 90 gallon. A week later, ICH!!! 2 weeks after the spill, I moved all 4 into the hypo tank. Should I have waited for the inhabitants to ride out the Ich? Hippo tang is not scratching on the rock. It shows no sign of oxygen deprivation. Yellow tang is tough - Spotless Flaming angel has some spots behind the eyes Clown has some spots - she's sad - But she's always sad. The biggest winner of all, the Ich Magnet
  6. Just found some Prestone at Lowes... Thanks you
  7. I just found MAG pellets by Dead Seaworks @ HD by Connecticut/Georgia Ave in Silver Spring ... Anyone seen Calcium Cloride?
  8. Wow... Thanks for correcting me. Do you all use Sched 40 for plumbing? I figure I want something thinner to maximize flow. Thanks...
  9. Where do you all get your Schedule 40 PVC? That's the thin wall PVC right? HD and Lowes only carry Schedule 80 PVC. TIA, -Peter
  10. Hi, Summer is here... stores should be stocking up their pickling lime. Last time I bought it was 2 years ago at Food Lion near Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets. Anyone seen any locally? Thanks, -Peter
  11. You can get a 50 Micron filter pad, tubbing, and a small pump. Use those to make a DIY diatom filter.
  12. oh yeah... I forgot about the pre-filter retaining some stuff. Thanks ErikS.
  13. Thanks all... I am using city water. TDS Reading: City - 150ppm After RO: 2ppm After DI: 0ppm Waste Line: 200ppm Shouldn't the Waste Line reading be around 300ppm?
  14. I was looking for it also to replace my DT usage. Anyone want to do a group/divvy up buy from http://www.instantalgae.com/index.asp? These things come at minimum 1 qt bottle. These are the exact same thing as BioPlankton but ALOT more affortable.
  15. I just replaced my ro filters after a year of usage. Attached is the pix. The reddish filter on the right is the 5 micron 1st stage. Should I replace it sooner? I have a 90 GPD using WSSC water. What do you think is reddish in the water? Clay or copper? I am thinking clay. I cant imagine my pipes is leaching that much copper. It's a 30 yr home.
