  1. I bought a Brother label maker off ebay last night. I want something easy so I can do it for a lot of stuff around the house.

I used to do the computer thing -

    Thanks for the info

i picked a small one up from walmart makes things alot easier for sure

  2. We're current paid members, but don't have current cards to show for it. Will we be able to get updated membership cards? I can bring a printout of the PayPal payment if that's helpful.

    Jon

same here. but bob usually has a list at the front to make sure he has a count of members being up to date.

  3. we had one in the past but i think it all changed when we switched boards or something like that. i still think it should be an option for all kinds of discussion.

  4. HowardofNova of course! He broke down his tank before you joined us, but he has a vast collection of corals that he has in other people's tanks until his new one is up. He had a TOTM last year I believe.

the dude can just about build or remodel anything, sort of the jack-of-all-trades kinda guy.

and there is also stories of the thong....

but he's an all around good guy.

  5. I was being sarcastic. My Hippo tang eats chaeto all the time. I assume it's good for him.

my ole sailfin would gobble it up like it was a twizzler or something. would attack it faster than nori....

  6. Are they fairly hardy?

very hardy. they can take all kinds of light and i never feed mine and they still clone. mine even lived trough a tank crash which wiped out all my fish and my rbta(that i had in that tank.)

feed it a few times just to watch it. sometimes they shrink up or stretch out like their doing weird things and once they find their right spot for light they stay put...usually. IME they never stung any coral or anything.

  7. since it was from a wamas member its a good chance it is a borneman...looking at the picture it IS a borneman.... i have 2 had more but gave some away. not a fish eater and the shrimp love to hang around it. under the right lights the colors around the mouth are very nice and have a cool design. mine have cloned themselves several times and even el presidente himself (gatortailale) has several...or has had several. i think they came about in this group from micheal gerdes who is a friend of borneman and one of the founding members of this club.

  8. My tang was frightened when I had my hands in the tank, and dashed into a small space with the frogspawn all rubbing against him. What should I look for on the fish in relation to frogspawn stings? I'm worried the tang will end up with sores that could get infected.

if the tang isnt showing signs of stress i wouldn't worry. mama (sailfin tang) used to take food out of the mouth of my e.qauds and borneman anemones.

  9. i'm in, since i'm setting up a 40g breeder.

any 40g breeder suggestions? like whats the biggest fish or flow rate or whatever you'd like to add?

i will be moving some of the fish over from the 150 when i get the stand and tank where i want it. they will be 2 black ocellaris 1 green chromis, 2 royal grammas, and a tail spot blenny. i have two let over fish a copperband and a powder brown tang that i'm trying to decide what to do with.

  10. my cleaner hangs right beside my borneman anemone, like it thinks it offers some kind of protection. while working at the zoo a few years ago i notice one of the coldwater anemones bent and reached over to grab a piece of food that had fallen right beside it when i was feeding....i only saw it once.

but i think maybe the shrimp had become a little to comfortable with the area around the anemone and being the opportunistic feeder your little guy/gal got nabbed.

  11. i don't think silicon will work so you may have to re-glue. you can try to dry it out and wick it in...but i've never tried that so i dunno if it will work either but its worth a try.

my question is about the check valve... alot of them have a metal spring in them which over time may go fizz with the salt water and also cause a little head pressure. there are clear pvc check vavles that are all rubber here at mcmaster-carr

that what i use. i use the clear in case something isnt right and i can see inside it to make sure there are no restrictions.
