  1. After thinking about it, if I'm able to get a fair offer for the tank/stand/canopy/sump - I'd be willing to part. So if you're interested just the tank/stand/sump let me know and let's see if we can work something out. Matt
  2. I hate to do it, but family comes first and I just don't have the time I need to take care of this tank. Complete set up for $2000.00 **** WILL NOT PART OUT **** Again, not parting out at this time, so please don't ask. If it comes to parting out, I'll post a new thread at that time. (some of these pics are old - I'll get new ones in the morning) Tank has been running for over a year and a half now. Colors and growth of the coral are really starting to take off. If you have any questions, please let me know - best to email me - msloan21@gmail.com as I can't always get to wamas.org. 3. thanks guys/girls since moving and adding the sump, chiller, ato and actinic's the tank is really starting to color up (I'm a terrible photographer and the pics don't really show it). It's not entirely where I'd like the coral coloration to be, but I'm working on reducing nutrients and it's getting there.
  4. long over due for an update I did get the ATO finished up and working. And then today I was able to hang all but 2 of the panels. The magnet idea didn't work out as planned so I opted for some super strength velcro for the time being. If I can figure out a way, I go back to using the magnets as the velcro pushes the panels out by about an 1/8" causing the panels to not line up exactly. heres with just actinic: and now with actinic and MH: and a couple of close up FTS: I need to do some sanding on the other 2 panels and then glue them into place - should have that done in what 6 months?
  5. Steve where did you get the Calfo bulb?
  6. had no idea Calfo (Anthony right?) had bulbs out - any links to info? I guess what I really need to do is check par for various bulbs and my ballast. whose the new MD? Interesting about Tim - wonder what he did? I had lunch with him last week and he didn't say anything, nor have I heard anything from the rumor mill.
  7. It's about time to replace my bulb - currently I'm using a Phoenix 14k bulb with 2 super actinic R vho bulbs and really like the color. Just enough blue, but not too much (like some 20K's I've tried in the past) - decent growth and colors are getting there (I think this is more of a nutrient problem than it is lighting). Before I buy another Phoenix bulb, I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for another bulb I might want to consider? BTW ballast is an Ice Cap electric.
  8. clowns and gobies ??? No one else has any other ideas?
  9. LOL I have NO time to work on the projects she knows about (house work, computer work, the '49 pick up, fish tanks - the list goes on and on) I got the ATO water resvoir built and all that working. I've got the panels and am hoping to get them sealed this weekend, maybe get them installed, but I'm not counting on that. I still need to clean up the wiring and get some lighting for the sump.
  10. 2 maybe 3 max. We both know that if a larger tank was a possibility, it would already be in the works. For now, the 16 will have to do.
  11. dare I say it? yellow tailed damsels small tank, yes, but fish would be added at the same time (hope to reduce territory aggressiveness), no other fish in system, and they are less aggressive than other damsels.
  12. ehhhh not too encouraging... maybe chromis are my best bet
  13. saw the [edit]blue eye cardinal[/edit] you were talking about - was hoping for a little more eye candy. My son really loves watching the seahorses, so was hoping to get something that would catch his interest in this tank too. what are everyone's thoughts about pipe fish? Too much flow in an SPS tank for them too feed?
  14. My 16gal (20 gal total volume) nano currently has a flame hawkfish, but I'm beginning to want some other fish in there. Problem is, I'm not sure what I should get (the flame hawkfish will be removed). I was really wanting a few (3 maybe) anthias, but the more I read about them, I realize that I don't have the right set up for them. There's always chromis, but they're just chormis. I'm not a big clown fish fan and gobies are cool, but I was hoping for something that would swim out in the open - not just hide in the rocks. So I guess to sum it all up, I'd like 2-3 schooling fish that won't nip at sps. Suggestions?
  15. I've got all the frags that I got from you still - I'd like a little more growth out of them before I frag them. I'll let you know.
  16. I'd be very nervous drilling that many holes - especially those 1 1/2" in the corners that are close together and the 4 2" along the bottom - close to the edge. And like John said, the first power failure and you're gonna have a nice mess on your hands when your sump floods. Sump drains and returns need to be placed as high up as possible.
  17. sorta on subject, sorta off... I need some 1/4" acrylic - the HD in Springfield doesn't have it. Anyone know another place in the Springfield area that does?
  18. yup, stocking up on water, batteries and inverter and candles. Anyone have any idea on how bad they're saying it's supposed to be?
  19. it's almost like he was afraid to drill the tank for his CL returns
  20. not much in the way of pictures, but some major milestones accomplished. Sump and chiller are online - had some minor set backs though. When I first drilled the tank, I was going to use 1/2" drain and return. Problem with this is that water wasn't moving fast enough through the sump and I had the mag 5 return pump all but shut down. This of course tripped the chiller on and off more than necessary. Had to order 3/4" flex pvc and bulk heads then wait a week to get it. Last night, pulled everything down, removed all the 1/2" drain lines and drilled out the tank for the 3/4" bulk head. Got the new line run and opened up the mag 5. Next on the list is to clean up some of the plumbing - I didn't have all the pcv pieces I needed so I had to hack together everything. Not required, but it will drive me crazy if I don't. Skimmer is still on the back of the tank, need to take that down, clean it and install on the sump. And I still need to get a couple of pieces of acrylic for the ATO tank. Not making progress as fast as I had wanted, but at least I'm still moving forward and the hard/stressful part is done.
  21. I've used these skimmers on 3 of my nanos - well worth the $$$ here's a used one for sale - can't beat the price of $82: http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=24347
  22. I've got a bow front on a home made square stand. Even though my tank is small, I made the stand big enough to support the entire tank - I wouldn't even think to build a stand that allows part of the tank to be unsupported. Check my build thread for pictures.
  23. yeah this is what I was thinking of. Got home last night and started looking closely at the sump - turns out its not the freshly plumbed system or the bigger pump. The skimmer chamber is not getting enough water from my overflow - right now it's 1/2" but I should have new 3/4" tubing and bulk heads tomorrow - that should fix the problem.
  24. I'm gonna have to look - I honestly don't remember if I got the pro or not. Either way, good to know - thanks!
