  1. inside out in the washer with bleach only. I have 50 of them so I wait till I get about 20 ready to go. Air dry for a couple of days then back in use. Chris
  2. Hi El How are the new bulbs working? Do they make things much brighter?
  3. Yep I think i used the Bondo epoxy at home depot instead of the fiberglass resin.
  4. I used the black pond foam on my rock wall tank. It was running for a year and the foam held together fine. I had huge issues with algae and microbubbles but I can't tell if it was the foam or the epoxy I used. I replaced that tank a couple of months ago and the system seems to be much healthier without it.
  5. It looks like it's going to be a nice setup. I like the extra room on the stand, I wish I had some extra to put stuff while I'm working on the tanks..
  6. couple more pics now that the sun is down and the glare is gone... Left Side Center My Flowerpot Nem The LTA Monti from EPLeeds
  7. Yep still here and have a restart I am now proud of. Tank tour soon . Chris
  8. I love the way it looks the only problem I have with it is that the back wall of the tank is 5/8" of acrylic and the magnets seem a little weak at that distance. But it does give me more options for coral placement. Chris
  9. Thank guys During this restart I replaced all the sand with new agronite from Marco Rock. I also replaced ny Maxijet mods with Korilia Magnum 5's and added the mag rock I saw on El Camaron's tank to fill the center... The sump is still in the basement but I am running 2 skimmers now with filtersocks and carbon. I am looking for a Kalk stirrer at the present time so if anyone has one let me know.
  10. Tank Update Hi All Last fall I noticed a small leak in the foam rock wall tank, so I contacted Naga for a replacement. He delivered an awesome 75 gallon replacement tank with external overflow. What I learned from Rock Wall. The foam held up good even under the lights. When I removed the structure the foam had not deteriorated at all and the rock and sand were fully embedded. That being said that
  11. Great let me know what you think when you get em...
  12. WOW!! never thought about the foam Rock wall causing microbubbles. I had the same problem with mine, I kept getting microbubbles from my closed loop and could not figure out why. My other expereince was hair algae I could never get ahead of it. My rock wall tank leaked 3 months ago and I replaced it with a new tank from Naga and the system has been great since.. HA almost gone and new corals are doing great.
  13. I put them in about 2 months ago when I restarted the reef after a tank leak. They are much brighter then the uvl's I replaced. The bulbs are very nice but I can't speak to growth yet since I just restarted the system. My Setup is 5 54W on IC 660 ballasts Wave Point Sun Wave 12K Wave Point Super Blue 460 UVL Actinic White Wave Point Super Blue 460 Wave Point Coral Wave Purple The color is great and coverage seems even across the tank.
  14. Thanks Howard you make sure to have a great 2010 as well.. Chris
  15. Yep will be there.. 1st in a while will be good to see you all again..
  16. Great Pics... Sorry I missed this one too.. The tank looks awesome and the room is going to fantastic. I didn't relize you were doing it yesterday... Go Company 12. Chris
  17. Here is my 100 gallon rubbermaid sump. Chris
  18. I would love to to come see your system It's been so long.. Are you around next week? Chris
  19. I like the decal comment.. The Hippo loves to play in the powerhead current that flows there. I molded the foam by just breaking off the edges and used a fork and knife to cut it around rocks attached to the egg create. I just cut and played with ti till I thought it looked good. Chris
  20. Yes it does.. A little time mean a lot... I never did find out what caused the initial outbreak I feel it was a combination of new startup, I put marco rock in without curing and maybe the foam. The tank really seems to be coming back so I hope to stock it now and see if things continue to improve.
  21. Oh yeah just let me know... I need some frags to feill the tank.. Chris
  22. 6 month update.. The algae is gone and now starting to stock it.. Chris
  23. 6 month update. after the algae attack I left the tanks mature for 6 months. Just started putting corals in. Chris
  24. The way I did it was to add my cleanup crew. I purchased my crew from reefcleaners.org Here's my list 70 Dwarf Cerith 13 Florida Cerith 21 Nassarius Vibex 15 Limpets 4 Fuzzy Chiton 30 Blue Leg Hermit Crab The Chiltons can mow down some algae. I used a bottle brush to remove as much as I could. The brush worked well at cutting the algae from 3 inches to 1/2 inch. I puchased a Lawnmower Blenny that I think ate himself to death. He was doing great for 3 weeks then I noticed his belly was huge. 2 days later he was crab food on the bottom... He was great fun to watch I miss him.. I had 2 Phosban reactors laying around and some old phosar that Doug gave me so I hooked them up. 4 weeks ago Still running I haven't replaced phosar yet. 2 weeks ago I purchased the dual reactor from Bulk Reef supply with carbon and GFO. I added 2 cups of carbon and 2 cups of GFO to the system. I replaced the GFO once last week. I added my chaeto tumbler "see diy section", and watched my chaeto grow from a golf ball size to almost soccerball size in a couple of weeks. My plan is to remove the phosban reactors 1 at a time over the next week. and change my GFO every 2 weeks for the next 2 months. Keep the Chaeto tumbling and cleanup crew strong. I think my problem was the rock in the front came from Marco Rocks. I didn't realize that dry rock needs to be cleaned before being added to the tank. All the dead stuff in the rocks created a mess. I am over the hump and moving forward. Chris
